Choosing a Widget Type

Pick the captcha widget style that best fits your form and audience.

Choosing a Widget Type

Sentinel ships several widget styles so you can match the captcha to your form's risk and your design. All of them mint the same sentinel-token and verify the same way.

The options

  • Checkbox — the classic "I'm human" tick. Familiar and low-friction for most forms.
  • Invisible — runs silently in the background and only challenges suspicious visitors.
  • Managed — adapts between invisible and an interactive challenge based on live IP risk.
  • Compact — a smaller footprint for tight layouts and sidebars.

How to pick

  1. For sign-up and login forms, Managed gives the best balance of friction and protection.
  2. For high-traffic, low-risk forms (newsletters, comments), Invisible keeps things smooth.
  3. When you need a clear, explicit user action, choose Checkbox.

Set the widget type and theme per site from the Sentinel (Captcha) area of the Lab.
